Know What You're Looking For?

What to Expect When Working With Creator Unleashed...

Our team prides itself on clear communication, transparent pricing, and reliable fulfillment handled with the same care and attention we’d give our own projects.

Simple, Transparent Pricing

We charge a flat fee per book/unit for both project-based on 100+ orders and direct sales with 20+ sales/month. There are no hidden fees—only clear, upfront costs for special handling, materials, or storage.

Flexible Fulfillment Options

We handle both large project campaigns (like Kickstarter or Backerkit) and ongoing direct sales through third-party platforms. Our team can integrate directly with your systems to ensure smooth, consistent order processing.

Fair Postage & Processing

Postage is billed at exact cost plus the standard payment processing fee. We always use the most affordable shipping method available, with tracking included on all orders.

Quality & Care in Shipping

Every book is inspected on arrival, packed with industry-tested methods, and shipped with protective materials tailored to the order size. While we can’t control third-party carriers, we prioritize secure packing and clear tracking for every shipment.

Storage & Inventory Management

We do not charge storage fees on active project inventory. For long-term direct sales storage, rates are charged per cubic foot per month, with clear examples provided so you know exactly what to expect.

Clear Policies for Claims & Excess Inventory

We replace damaged items from your inventory and track claims to prevent repeat issues. Clients are required to keep extra copies on hand, and we offer relocation or destruction services for unsold inventory after project completion.

If non-standard labor applies (attaching bookplates, hand numbering, organizing personalization, etc) rates will be discussed. Potential costs of non-standard labor will be discussed and agreed on beforehand – no surprise fees.

Direct Sales with 20+ Sales/Month:

Access: We require access (restricted) to third-party platforms for order fulfillment as well as push notifications. We will assist you in setting this up.

Other Terms

Storage: The Nightmare Engine does not charge storage on working inventory (inventory committed to a project)
We charge long-term storage per cubic foot per month for ongoing Direct Sales clients: prices are charged per cubic foot for contract clients and per cubic foot per month for non-contract clients.

Postage: The Nightmare Engine pays the postage then bills the client at exact cost plus any payment processing expense.
For larger projects, we reserve the right to issue a provisional invoice to cover part of the postage prior to shipping.

Shipping Methods: For US domestic orders, most shipments are USPS Media Mail, but we check and will ship via the cheapest possible shipping method for the client unless otherwise requested.
For International orders under 4lbs we use Pirate Ship's simple export rates, and over 4lbs we use UPS Worldwide Expedited which includes customs clearance fees but NOT import tariffs, sales tax, VAT, or additional fees for UPS assessing those costs.
We advise clients to inform customers they are responsible for being aware of those charges for their country and are responsible for paying any additional fees. All methods of shipping are tracked, and we will provide tracking #s upon request.

Loss & Damage Policy: The Nightmare Engine believes customer trust & satisfaction is paramount. Defects are verified using tracking data or customer pictures unless the client has opted in to self-manage customer service.
Replacement books are filled out of client's inventory.
Client will pay postage except in the case of shipping damage in which we cover the second attempted delivery. We track claims for all orders we fulfill through an Issue Log, so in the case of multiple claims or other "red flags" from repeat customers, we may suggest the client issue a refund rather than make another delivery attempt and in rare cases we will advise the client to deny a replacement or refund.

Quality Assurance: On inbound shipments, we perform a thorough spot check of several books in the order, evaluating them cover to cover. When packing, we provide cursory inspections for obvious exterior damage. For outbound shipments, our commitment is to packing each item with due care, to the standards listed below. We are not responsible for mishandling of packages by third party couriers.

Standard Packaging: We base our packaging methodology on data from thousands of monthly shipments, and we are constantly working to improve, so methods may change. If you have particular requirements, please confirm in advance. We keep cardboard flats, kraft paper, and bubble wrap for filler as necessary.

Packing Lists: Project Based Fulfillment: At a minimum, we require a packing list in CSV or XLS format that includes all necessary address information. If we do not have the packing list when the books arrive, we will charge storage for those books. We accept raw outputs from Kickstarter, Backerkit, Pledgebox, or Pledge Manager, and for large projects, we can be added as collaborators, and we can pull the shipping data ourselves from those platforms.

Hidden Fees: None. There are no receiving charges, no shelving fees, no product setup charges, no seasonal adjustments to pricing, picking fees, return order charges, and so on, except in the case of additional labor for non-standard handling as noted in the next section.

Special Handling: If special handling is required, all work is negotiated in advance. If non-standard packing materials like shipping tubes for posters or maps are required, the client can provide materials, or we will invoice at cost. For non-standard labor (hand numbering editions, affixing bookplate stickers, etc) our base labor rate will be applied.

Excess Inventory: We require Project Fulfillment clients to order excess inventory, the greater of 10 copies or 2.5% of the project, to cover loss and damage. We advise ordering more excess beyond that. It's always possible to sell a book you have, but it's very difficult to get more books once you've run out. When a project finishes, and a reasonable claims period has passed, The Nightmare Engine can relocate inventory or return it to the client.

90 Day Clause: We will fulfill excess inventory for up to 90 days Post Project Completion Date (the day the last order is shipped from our warehouse). This means you have 90 days to “sell” your excess inventory before it needs to be relocated or destroyed.
If the client ends the relationship or there is remaining inventory post project, the client is responsible for Relocation of Inventory or Destruction within 14 days.

Relocation of Inventory: At any time a client may request inventory to be relocated to their own location or to a third party. If labor is required, we will charge the lower of our hourly rate or our project rate. The client is responsible for all postage or freight costs that are incurred.

Relocation Examples: if we need to send one box of books still packed in the original parcel, there is no labor charge to put a new label on it. If we need to ship forty boxes in their original packaging LTL on a pallet, we charge our hourly rate to assemble and stage the pallet. If we need to gather and repack five books that are on the shelves, we charge our project rate.

Destruction: The Nightmare Engine will destroy remaining inventory at the client’s request. This will incur a flat fee of $100.
Accounting: For Projects, accounting is completed as soon as we have all necessary information. For ongoing relationships where we fulfill direct sales and charge storage, we account monthly as part of an ongoing tab and will bill/pay each month when the balance is over $100.

Our Facility: The Nightmare Engine is located in Hutto, Texas. We have both drive-in and dock high doors, and access to pallet jacks, so no special handling will be required on delivery. The building is limited key access, there are cameras in the public spaces, and our facility is locked each night for security. The Nightmare Engine staff are on site M–F during typical business hours.
